New Childcare Support for Parents 2024

January 19, 2024

Exciting news for parents! Starting April 2024, even more families will have access to free childcare support.

Working Parents of Two-Year Olds

The Chancellor announced in the Spring Budget 2023 that from April 2024, working parents of two-year-olds will also be eligible for 15 hours of free childcare. Applications opened on 2 January 2024. This means more parents can return to work with peace of mind, knowing their child is well taken care of.

Currently, only parents of two-year-olds can access 15 hours a week of free childcare if they are in receipt of income support benefits, such as Universal Credit, and earn less than £15,400 a year.

How to Apply

Working parents of two-year-olds will need to
apply for free childcare via the Gov.uk website to gain access to the 15 hours of free childcare. Please note you will be asked to reconfirm you’re still eligible every 3 months.

You can also view additional information and find the right offer for you via the
Childcare Choices website.

Childcare expenses shouldn't hold you back from pursuing your professional goals. With this new initiative, the government is making it easier for families to balance work and family life. Don't miss out on this opportunity.
Apply now and secure the support you need!

Three- to Four-Year-Old Childcare Support

Three to four-year-olds can already benefit from 15 hours of free childcare, regardless of income or work hours. And Working parents of three- and four-year-olds may be entitled to an additional 15 hours of free childcare per week, subject to requirements.

Parents can get more information, check eligibility and apply at:
www.childcarechoices.gov.uk and must make their application the term before they wish to start receiving the entitlement.

September 2024 Childcare Initiatives

Additionally, from September 2024, 15 hours of free childcare will be extended to all children from the age of nine months.

And, from September 2025, working parents of children under the age of five will be entitled to 30 hours of free childcare a week.

Applications for these offers are not yet available.
